Quavo – Quavo Huncho | Video Review

Let’s talk about Quavious Keyate Marshall – more commonly known Quavo – and his debut solo album Quavo Huncho. Quavo is the leader and most prominent member of the Migos, who enjoyed great chart success last year, but he failed to capitalise with a solo album. This year’s lone solo appearance in the UK charts came on DJ Khaled’s “No Brainer”, which also featured Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper.

Recently Quavo has been overshadowed by fellow Migo Offset, who appeared on a number of successful bangers like Tyga’s “Taste”. Quavo Huncho is a middling effort, and likely the first of three forthcoming Migos solo releases, so brace for solo efforts from Offset and Takeoff.

I have several issues with Quavo Huncho – firstly the album is far too long. No one enjoyed the stream trolling monstrosity that was Culture II earlier this year; it is unforgivable for Quavo to drop a 19 track album on our laps in Q4 of the same year. This album is far too long for a Trap album, with the subjects and boasts wearing thin very quickly.

Another issue is the fact that Quavo lacks the personality to carry an hour-long album. The best part of Quavo Huncho are the featured artists who steal every song they appear on and leave Quavo struggling to establish himself on his own album. Featured artists include 21 Savage, Drake, Saweetie, Madonna(!), Cardi B, Lil Baby, Travis Scott, Normani, Davido and Kid Cudi.
