Dermot Kennedy – Self Titled | Video Review

In the past two years Dermot Kennedy’s career has taken off, the Dublin-based Folk singer first struck success with tracks such as “After Rain” and “Glory” – both of which appear on his self-titled debut album.

“After Rain” in particular was the catalyst for building Kennedy’s profile and came to the attention of Spotify. He told the Irish Independent:

“I had no management at the time and I went in to meet them [Spotify] and they said the song had been picked due to an algorithm. Then they did a bit of a mini campaign on one of my songs, After Rain, and that was the point it really started turning. I stopped sending 100 emails a day to record companies, because people were finally listening now.”

Since this point, Kennedy has been receiving significant attention, in 2018 he collaborated with legendary Rap-A-Lot producer Mike Dean on Mike Dean Presents: Dermot Kennedy. From here Kennedy found himself on the BBC’s Sound of 2019 longlist alongside Grace Carter; solidifying Kennedy’s position as one of the rising stars in British music.

We’ve finally got our hands on his debut album, check out our thoughts on Dermot Kennedy’s – Dermot Kennedy below:
